SIA RAGS - The story of a family business
RAGS Ltd. is an authentic family business founded in Latvia on 15 June 1993, when the country was still recovering from the transition period and young entrepreneurs were looking for niche markets. The founders - family members with a deep interest in the automotive sector - started with a small shop and workshop in Riga. The company specialised in the import, export and sale of car body repair materials - putty, primer, varnish and paint. Over time, the range expanded to include car paint booths, which the company not only supplies but also installs.
The first years were full of challenges - from waves of inflation to market volatility - but perseverance allowed the company to survive and grow. In 1995, the company registered a VAT number, which facilitated cooperation with foreign suppliers. By the early 2000s, RAGS had become a trusted partner for local garages, but in 2003, a turning point came: the family launched its own brand, STONDER, an internationally registered trademark based on products tested in its own laboratories.
Latvia's accession to the EU in 2004 opened new doors and the company was recognised as one of the TOP 500 largest companies in Latvia by net turnover (e.g. in 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2023).In 2022, RAGS signed an agreement with the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia on EU funding support to strengthen international competitiveness, which helped modernise supply chains.
Today the company is one of the leading suppliers of automotive repair materials and painting equipment. With over 30 years of experience, RAGS Ltd. is the story of how family ties, passion for the automotive world and a focus on quality turn a small idea into a successful business that supports thousands of professionals across Europe. The company continues to grow, maintaining its roots in Riga and its focus on sustainable solutions.
What is STONDER?
In 2003 when this brand was created, it was developed for a small group of products for the Latvian market, developed by the factories specifically for the Latvian market, but with time the demand became more and more - so many different products were added and others replaced others, but there were products with the quality that customers have demanded, so it remains the same - we always listen to customers, so with time the brand "Stonder" has developed two product standards:
- STONDER - a wide range of car repair materials at a good price
- STONDER Professional - high quality products that deliver expert results
STONDER's strengths
Currently, the product range includes more than 400 products - finished car paints, varnishes, hardeners and solvents, primers and fillers, putties, anti-corrosives, glass and plastic adhesives, sealants, adhesive and double-sided tapes, paper towels, polishing wipes, degreasing fluids and wipes, various technical sprays and products for surface treatment and cleaning, measuring cups and plastic containers for spraying liquids, paint refill sprays, a wide range of sanding papers, masking films and wrapping papers, hand washes, professional car cosmetics and polishing pastes and wheels, various types of stands for service equipment and many other materials for any car repair.
The wide range of STONDER products is manufactured in well-known Western European factories in Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Italy, Great Britain, Romania, Belgium as well as in Asia and even South Africa.
The STONDER product range is updated from time to time with new products, listening to the wishes and needs of our customers, but at the same time we always carry out a thorough market research and analysis, which gives us confidence in the necessity of such product introductions.
